Feller’s house – part II
We talked with Jura Gašparac about Feller’s success with Elsa-fluid. Elsa, bottles were sent worldwide 300 – 400 per day from Donja Stubica post office, whose ingredients don’t know even today.
As business grew, Mr. Eugen built the great villa for his family. In this blog post meet his family.
YOU SAID THAT ONE OF EUGEN’S SONS WAS WORKING WITH ALBERT EINSTEIN?
Yes. Family Feller was numerous. Eugen with his wife Ida had 12 children, and some of them grew up in the greats of our art and world science.
While he was a well-known pharmacist and enriched by revolutionary cosmetic products, three children started his footsteps. Miroslav was a writer and theoretician of visual communication, Marijan was a pianist and a pedagogue.
The brightest point of the family, Vilibald, was worldwide-known mathematician. Vilibald, who later changed his name to William studied probability theory in America, and associated with Einstein. William was named by the fascinating 150 mathematical theories and concepts.
The idea of Villa Feller was space which is practical, easy to maintain and that last for years.
We felt special spirit in the music room where the tall windows come almost to the floor.
A picture, through wide sliding windows which can be opened in the lower half, provides an intimate connection to the park: serene rose garden, a nearby forest, a blue sky in the evening, and golden sun is poured over the space.
CAN YOU TELL ME HOW WAS MR. EUGEN LIKE?
Pharmacist was a promoter and invigorator of the artists, architects, designers, painters and sculptors at the beginning of 20th century.
Villa was published in Innen-Dekoration as most beautiful of that time in Europe. Innen-Dekoration was one of the first magazines which included reports on design trends internationally. Magazine had a great impact on second generation of magazines in the years to follow.
Exterior beauty, without the depth of a kind soul is merely decoration.“
